If you’re anything like me, you’re a real sucker for the look, sound and feel of the early ’60s. It’s why people like those of us who watch Mad Men, get excited about white v-neck tennis sweaters and think that 62 is the perfect age for a boyfriend. (And you’ve never heard of an Electra complex.) So today’s featured song is by British chanteuse Gemma Ray, who has the same seductive sound as Amy Winehouse or Duffy, but without the extreme overproduction that makes me feel like I’m in a movie trailer when I hear them.

Gemma’s unfortunately Adam-Sandler-sounding debut album Lights Out, Zoltar will come out in October. But until then, you can enjoy her track “100 MPH in 2nd Gear” and wait for your sweetie to invite you out for a malted.
