Happy almost weekend, TNG readers! This weekend, unbelievably, ushers in the eighth month of the year, and with it, the truly stifling Dog Days of summer – the kind of days you just want to lay around and do nothing, except maybe have someone drop by and plop a sprinkler down right next to you. If you can motivate yourself, however, to leave the air conditioning, you’ll be rewarded with great events this weekend.
Friday
- Get happy at HRC’s first brand new quarterly community night, their Women’s Happy Hour, at MIDTOWN lounge. Details: MIDTOWN Lounge, 1219 Connecticut Ave NW, 2nd Floor, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
- Join TNG for our newest dance event at the Black Cat, Transformer, a night of vintage rock, pop, glam and disco for the discerning queer. Details: The Black Cat backstage, 1811 14th St., NW. Doors at 9:30. All Ages. $5.
Saturday
- Learn more about religion and LGBT individuals at the Washington Progressive Muslim Meetup group event entitled Homosexuality and Islam with Imam Daayiee Abdullah. Details: Busboys & Poets, 2021 14th St. NW, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Sneak into Backdoor, a new clandestine dance party for those denied access. Details: 9:30 Club Back Bar, 815 V St NW (9th St Door), 11:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m., $5, 21+.
