Event Details: Win Free Tickets to John Vanderslice @ Black Cat - :

“Romanian Names,” the newest album from low-key singer/songwriter John Vanderslice, manages to cover a ton of different sounds in its dozen tracks. Taking the recent Bon Iver trend of low key love and break up songs, and adding some sunshine and humor, it’s become the album I listen to while I drink coffee in the morning, because its gentle enough for the AM but actually sets the stage for a decent day.

And since we’re nothing but generous here at The New Gay, we’re offering you a pair of free tickets to see John next Tuesday, June 16, at the Black Cat. All that is required to win is answering the below question as both a comment and an email to Zack@thenewgay.net. Most creative or bizarre answer wins:

John will likely play his song “Fetal Horses.” Does that image gross you out as much as it grosses me out?

Contest closes on Monday. Enjoy!

No, that doesn’t gross me out that much. I bet in some random country (Bolivia, Macedonia, Laos, whatever) they have informercials on all the things you can do with fetal horses.
“Here we have the best fetal horse grinder money can buy! Times are tough these days, if your fetal horse dies in utero, why let it go to waste? With this grinder you can grind that fetal horse down to a fine paste and use it for things such as:
    -Facial mask!
    -Salad Topping!
    -Ointment for rashes!
    -And Much, Much More!
Call in the next 5 minutes and we won’t make label you a dissenter and put you in the government prison!”
