Whether it’s because of the crowds, cost, or climate of Gay Days, some of us are going to be sticking closer to home for the weekend. For everyone who isn’t taking the yearly trek to Florida’s wonderland, there are still events worth noting.

Tonight

Check out the newly opened Arts on 9th tonight for Deleted Scenes. A hodgepodge of art will be on display, from painted sneaks to paintings on that other kind of canvas, and Beardsley and The Pauses will be performing live. All ages welcome. Arts on 9th, 1513 East 9th Avenue, Ybor. 9 p.m. $5.

Saturday

Discover the music of The Japanese Popstars tonight at the Hyde Park Cafe. Their mix of electronic music, both covers and original songs, are mixed by a trio of fellows from Northern Ireland (just in case you were expecting actual Japanese pop stars). Hyde Park Cafe, 1806 West Platt Street, Tampa, 10 p.m. $5.

Enjoy a leisurely stroll through Tampa’s most art-centric neighborhood today during the Ybor City Art Walk. Of note is Square One Rocks, a free party at The Ritz with live music, a full bar, and a number of art installations by the area’s up-and-comers. The Ritz Ybor, 1503 7th Avenue, 12 p.m., Free.
