Midnight Snacks for Homophobes
This post was submitted by TNG fan and friend, James.
BestGayBlogs.com is a site which, as its name suggests, features daily updates of various gay and “gay themed” blogs on the internet, along with other news and events that affect the LGBT community and its allies.  The site also has a spot designated to show a “featured” video.
The featured video is updated often and is one that can be found on YouTube. The video can be political or simply just for fun, but either way, they are there for the readers to enjoy.
As the editor for both BestGayBlogs.com and gayagenda.com, I am no stranger to homophobia. I have received my share of hate mail, and have been threatened on numerous occasions by those who simply hate “fags.”  Because of this, I’m usually pretty cautious when it comes to posting a video that may have come from someone with homophobic tendencies.  The last thing I need is some Right Wing conservative nut who hates gay people stalking me over some video that was posted on a site that I happen to manage.
However, I have found many videos on YouTube, made by both gay and straight people alike that have been posted for the whole world to see, as the people who made them are trying to get their funny little clips as much publicity as possible.Â
Typically, when I post these on BestGayBlogs, if anything, I get a thank you note. You see, BestGayBlogs acts as a sort of  “clearing house” that drives traffic to the original site, and provides thousands of daily visits to sites that otherwise our readers may never stumble across. Most people view the added traffic as a good thing…MOST people!
The other day, as I was looking around on YouTube, I ran across a video from a site called “Midnite Snackin”, which is produced by a guy named Pete Griffin.  According to his YouTube page:
Welcome to Midnite Snackin people! My name is Pete Griffin and I’m just a regular guy who just happens to be stunningly attractive and can chew gum while walking…all at the same time.
I currently produce two shows on this page (Midnite Snackin News and Life of Pete) so check them out and tell me what you think.
Times are tough y’all, so hopefully my videos can put a smile on your face. Pete Out!
Evidently the “stunningly handsome” Pete wasn’t OK with his video being featured on a site with a gay readership, as the next day, I received the following email:
Yeah…could you take my blog down from your site. I’m a straight, heterosexual male and I don’t want my video prominently featured on your site.
-P.S. Griffin
Midnite Snackin News
So, without a second thought, I took the video down and replaced it with another. But, I felt a need to respond to the email, so I sent the follow message as a reply:
Yeah…I’ll take it down.  But know I will be writing several features highlighting your homophobia.
Live and let live…life is better that way.
Your dislike of gay people displays your own insecurities.
Obviously unfamiliar with the laws surrounding things posted on YouTube, Pete just had to reply with a threatening email which stated:
My lawyer will be contacting you shortly.
Take care,
Pete Griffin
Finding this laughable at best, but not being one to take kindly to intimidation, I felt the only logical thing to do was reply to the threat by simply saying - “Bring it!”
I would like to point out that I find it just a little odd that in Pete’s original email, he referred to himself as both “straight” and “heterosexual.”  Pete’s redundancy led me to believe that perhaps not only is he a homophobic bigot, but extremely insecure with his own sexuality. Either way, it would appear he is willing to pay an attorney to fight for his right to be discriminatory and homophobic.
I realize that words like “homophobic” and “bigot” are tossed about pretty freely, and I really don’t like to use them without basing my claim on something concrete, (not that the email wasn’t proof enough) so I visited Pete’s YouTube site and found the following message prominently posted on his site’s front page:
“Miss California, u are the shit, perez ur a faggot dumb fuck who thinks he can gudge a womans pagaent. ur gay, u have no biz. in the judges seat. and if u used ur fucking head, than maybe u would think about what u go say on ur little fucking webcam and bitch about other people when people could rash on u and ur sucky pink hair. just because miss california stuck up for what she beleived in, doesnt mean that u have to trash her, even though noone really cares what u say anyways. midnight news, keep comin with the stories.”
With that, I decided I would stick to my claim of homophobia. Of course, I know that Pete himself didn’t post the above comment on his site, but he did leave it there to be read and applauded by what I would conclude to be his homophobic following.
There is one thing I have to point out, at the risk of pointing out the obvious. The person who left the above comment lacks just a bit when it comes to education… or perhaps doesn’t have spell check.  Either way, “birds of a feather”?
But again, as asked, BestGayBlogs.com removed the video and replaced it with a much funnier one.  But as a service to the LGBT community and our allies, I also feel compelled to bring Pete Griffin into the spotlight for being a homophobe.  Just as I feel it is important to the LGBT community to know who our allies are, I feel it is even more important to know who are enemies are. So, I wanted to share with you that P.S. Griffin is… a “stunningly attractive” and “regular” homophobe.
This is a clear example of how homophobia is so deeply seeded in the minds of many Americans…even those who consider themselves to be “entertainers” and are seeking to gain viewership. Here is a guy, that it would appear is trying to make a name for himself with creativity and humor, but is so homophobic he would rather forego thousands of viewers if that audience is part of the LGBT community. In fact, he is so worried about gay viewership, that he threatened me with “lawyer contact”!Â
My question is, what possible harm could come from the LGBT community becoming part of Pete’s viewership? What has him so concerned about being associated with anything “gay” that he feels the need to make threats in order to distance himself from anything “gay”? Is he part of the “Religious Right”, or as I mentioned earlier, are his fears a product of insecurities tied to his own sexuality?
The ironic part about all of this… the video I’m referring to was his take on the Gillette ad which instructs men on how to shave their “private” area! If that’s not just a little gay, I’m not sure what is.
Below is the video that was featured on BestGayBlogs.

Good work.
Anyone who’s taken a first-year torts class knows that this guy’s lawyer will not be contacting you unless she wants to tell you that she’s got a moron for a client.
Funny, he didn’t have time to proclaim his “straight, heterosexual male” bona fides while sucking me off in the bathroom at Penn Station.
Fuck you Pete. You’re a straight, hetero-tard.
Leave your response!
