Not sure how you missed Capital Trans Pride, since The New Gay will have a table at the event.
This is a reminder that Capital Trans Pride 2009 is this coming Saturday, June 6, from 10am to 6:30pm, at the Madison Hotel in Washington DC. We have a very exciting line-up of entertainers and speakers for the day. Click here to see the event flyer , which will give you a taste for what is in store, but for additional information, and to preregister, please see our website.
In particular, we will have an on-site changing facility available (our “Transformation Station”) from 8:30am, and we will even have volunteers on hand to help with make-up, nails and hair should you need assistance (while we will have some make-up that has been donated specifically for this purpose, we still recommend bringing your own make-up and tools, especially if you have health concerns sharing make-up with others).
General admission and on-site registration for the event will begin at 9:30am. We highly recommend preregistering online (credit card NOT required) to save yourself standing in a potentially long line to get in. Please also note that we WILL be accepting credit cards on-site if you do not have cash, and we also will not turn anyone away if they simply cannot afford the $10 attendee fee/donation (just tell the registration clerk that you cannot afford it, and the fee will be waived). That said, if you CAN afford it and can also sponsor an attendee in addition to yourself, please consider choosing that registration option for $20 to help us cover our costs.
Also, we strongly recommend parking outside the city and using Metro to come into DC on Saturday, since there will be numerous road closures for the Race for the Cure that will make getting in and around downtown DC by car a little tricky. If you do choose to come by car, we recommend that you enter the city from the north, as all of the western, southern, and some eastern entry points will be severely impacted by road closures.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you all on Saturday!
