Weekend Preview: DC Weekend Preview – Cruel Summer Edition
Event Details: DC Weekend Preview - Cruel Summer Edition - :
Happy Thursday, dear readers! This past week marked the first full official week of Summer 2009 and the weather was glorious (which was a nice change of pace since it had been raining since, like, April). So what’s with the title? Actually, due a series of random events (which will be detailed in next week’s What We’re Listening To post), I rediscovered an old Ace of Base cd and it has been the soundtrack to all of my workouts this past week. Included on the cd (a physical cd – crazy!) is the group’s cover of the Bananarama song “Cruel Summer,” a song which was once featured prominently on the best summer-themed mixed tape I’ve ever made. One listen took me instantly back to the summers of yore and did more in terms of getting me into the spirit of the season than any solstice or sunny day ever could.
Below are a few suggestions of how you might spend this first full weekend of summer, cruel or otherwise. Got an event you think TNG readers should know about? Leave the details in the comment below and email them to events@thenewgay.net and we’ll throw them up on the calendar ASAP!
