		<description>Actually, a large part of the Brown v Board case was showing that the inherent unfairness had a negative effect on children -- they used several pyschological studies that showed, quite damningly, that institutional disparity had negative esteem effects on children.

I think that if you&#039;re going to make marriage something &#039;extra-legal&#039;, then civil unions should just exist, while &#039;marriage licenses&#039; should be available at your local church. The problem with your argument is that people say that &#039;civil unions are equal&#039;, therefore &#039;marriage is equal,&#039; discounting the fact that gay people can&#039;t actually choose to get a marriage license if they want one. Most people who don&#039;t want &quot;marriage redefined&quot; are not worried about their own marriages becoming civil unions, they&#039;re worried about the flip side for queer folk.</description>
