Equality, Campus Style invites you participate in a Phelps-a-Thon in response to Fred Phelps coming to DC.
A Phelps-A-Thon is an innovative fundraising tactic that uses the Phelps crowd from the Westboro Baptist Church to generate money for local LGBT organizations.
The ticker on the pledge clock will start at 11:30 AM on Monday with the arrival of the WBC at the White House to protest the policies of President Obama, whom they identify as the Antichrist. They are expected to be there until 12:15 PM, and for every minute they spend on the White House sidewalk, the positive contribution that will be made to our local LGBT community grows.
Money from the event will be donated to Gays and Lesbians Opposing Violence (GLOV), a task force of the DC Center for the LGBT Community that works to end all forms of hate-motivated violence.
