Romance is a many splendored thing. Breakfast in bed. Flowers at work. Taking the time to flush after you take a dump with the door open. Lets face it: all the schmaltzy gestures that work in the beginning of the relationship can be downright bizarre a couple years in. If I came home tomorrow with my house filled with candles and flowers I would probably just worry that my boyfriend wasn’t aware of our building’s fire code. Thats why we have our own version of romantic gestures. I like surprise him with concert tickets, he does the cooking. That’s our kind of romance.

Floating, sex positive community center Whole DC is putting on a class tomorrow (March 5th) at the Darlington House Library, from 7 – 9p.m., entitled “Romance for the Rest of Us.” Hosted by sex writer and Cuddle Party originator Reid Mihalko (pictured), the workshop addresses the fact that real romance won’t always look like the movies and gives some tips about how normal people can keep their spark alive.
