Event Details: Ticket Giveaway: Brendon Small (of Dethklock and Home Movies) @ 930 - :
What it looked like when I woke up last Sunday morning...

What I saw when I woke up last Sunday morning...

Calling all animation geeks: Brendon Small, mastermind behind Adult Swim bright spots Metalocalypse and Home Movies, will be putting on a concert this Sunday at the 930 club, backed by the school of rock allstars. Though I personally think nothing could top the sweet-hearted genius (and gay-friendliness) of Home Movies, any chance to see this man live will probably be pretty cool. I would gladly vote for Thurman Thackery or attend Fenton Muley’s birthday party for a chance to go to this show for free. All you have to do, though, is answer the below question as both a comment AND an email to Zack@thenewgay.net:

What is your favorite fictional band? Josie and the Pussycats? The Be Sharps?

Most interesting answer wins. Contest closes at the end of the day on Friday.

    Best fictional bands:

    Scab, obviously

Hey, That’s My Bike (Troy’s band in the movie Reality Bites)

Kara Thrace and Her Special Destiny (Battlestar Galactica joke)

The Exits (the nonexistant band that Corey and Sean claim they are in so they can get girls in early Boy Meets World)

You do not understand how much I want to win tickets to see Brendon Small. I am a sad, unemployed little gay girl with bills and a cat to feed- no way can I buy tickets to a show. But I LOVE Brendon Small. I love him so much that I bookmarked and regularly check his not-often-updated website. I love him so much that I own the Home Movies soundtrack along with ALL four seasons on DVD. At least 1/2 of my relationship with my younger brother is us quoting Home Movies at each other. I have Melissa dressed as Susan “B is for Bitchin” Anthony as my avatar for several online groups. There is literally no one in the Washington, D.C. area who would get as much joy out of free Brendon Small tickets as I would. So hopefully my favorite fictional bands are interesting.

    Meekrab.

Although it actually was a real band, just in a fictional film; and the band actually wasn’t in the film, Kumar just wore their t-shirt. Still…

But Lucas’s sob story so touched me, I won’t bother to e-mail this. I just wanted an excuse to say “Meekrab”.

The winner is Lucas. And now I’m in love with her.
