I have to disagree with alot of this piece. I'm gay and black and have never been oppressed a day in my life. I have experienced racism, but the idea that I am inherently an outsider is bogus.<br/><br/>I reject identity politics rooted in the notion that all Black people are more "deeply bruised." If anything, perpetuating the notion that we are the consummate victims is outdated. <br/><br/>We need to have a serious dialogue about race, but this piece doesn't represent the views of all black people and makes no suggestions about how to move forward--together.
