Hi, Steven:

There is no way for us to create links in the calendar that are clickable. You'd have to copy and paste the link from the description field.

We don't want to list events w/o giving people a way to read our take on them. Having the calendar entries link to our blog posts about the events is very important, and it's a feature we aren't prepared to exchange for Google Calendar... we're working on this, though. Maybe we'll have a solution by Jan 5.

-M

Thanks for the response, Michael. I'm a bit confused by your reply, though. Google Calendar entries allow for event descriptions. Couldn't you simply post the relevant information there, with a link to a related blog post, should one exist?

And as for having events visible on the TNG site: couldn't you simply display the iCal feed on the site's sidebar, or embed the calendar into a page on the site, as GGW does?

Hi, Stephen:

We've looked into it, but there is one big problem. There is no way for us to link items in a google calendar back to our site so people can get more information. We write up event listings on the site and link to them with the "TNG" label. There is no way to do that, so anyone reading the google calendar won't know how to find out more info about the event we're promoting.

If someone knows a way to do it, I'd be glad to listen... Or if there's a way we can keep our events in an XML document and have an option to click and download in a google calendar format, I'm all ears.

Would TNG be amenable to hosting a Google Calendar of TNG and other LGBT DC events, as the Greater Greater Washington blog does? It would certainly make it easier to see how these events are spaced out, and allows people to import the TNG calendar into their own.
