Politics: Keith Olbermann on Prop. 8
It’s unspeakably refreshing when straight people of status or fame speak up for queer causes. The above video is truly moving: MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann makes an impassioned plea to the detractors of same-sex marriage to really consider why the granting of marriage rights to queer people really matters to them. To those swayed by religion, he invokes the ever-appropriate “do unto others” golden rule. Everyone should view this video.
My question to Keith Olbermann: why did you wait until one week after election day to get so worked up over this? Why not one week before?
First time here? See what we're all about... Get involved... Send us a tip!...

Would it really have mattered before hand?
If Oprah had something like this, I believe it could have swayed the election.
Where was Oprah?
there was only one person who single-handedly, maybe, could have flipped this, and doing so would likely have cost him his own ambition.
Corey, If one person could have flipped this but cost him his own ambition….then one person couldn’t have done it! No one can tell a bigot not to vote a certain way. I have family members who I have lobbied to vote for me but they still refused…much less some distant figure that we think can have any influence on someone who is ignorant.
and Michael, instead of asking what olberman could have done…what could have TNG have done? Do you know how many readers you have? Where was the fundraiser…where was the scheduled call bank that you guys could have done…instead of asking when olbermann could have done why don’t you get off your high horse and use the resources at your disposal as opposed to just doing what most people do..bitch and not act. Oh well, looking forward to MIXTAPE! whoo hoo!
Hi, Anon:
Here’s what I did. Maybe a bit silly and maybe too little too late, but we put a lot of creative energy towards shedding some light on the subject.
What did you do?
Have you seen Edward Albee’s The Goat? There’s a very similar plea for the love a man and a goat. Convinced me.
(The thing about the Olbermann rant is that the people he’s talking to don’t watch his show.)
Wait, am I the only one who thinks this clip is really beautiful? Maybe it doesn’t change things now, but I find this kind of passion from someone not directly affected incredibly affirming.
he’ not directly Effected. clearly he’s quite Affected.
The grammar police are out in full farce!
Shit, yeah, you’re right. I guess my grammar slip completely negates my point.
Maybe for the same reason Al Gore waited till after the vice presidency and his failed election bid to get worked up over the environment?
Leave your response!
