Have you ever been to an A Capella concert off of a college campus? It’s a horrifying experience. All those grown men and women, snapping their fingers and “la la la-ing,” sometimes with their eyes closed, always with a complete lack of awareness on just how uncomfortable unaccompanied singing makes the people in its vicinity. The above video gave me a similar reaction, but I got the impression that the people in it weren’t taking themselves too seriously. (Plus, my diehard Steely Dan fandom leaves me automatically supportive of any Michael McDonald project)

As these men and women jazz-hands their way around the downtown to the Doobie Brother’s “Take Me In Your Arms and Rock Me,” you could also take a moment to ask yourself “What is the gayest music video ever?” Common consensus gives that prize to “Dancing in the Street,” but Oh Sherrie, Here Comes the Rain Again and I Want You Back are also strong contenders.
