MixwitMixwit make a mixtapeMixwit mixtapes

Hey hey, everybody and welcome to the Wednesday mixtape! Hopefully, all of you are having a lovely day. Currently, I’m astounded by what 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep can do for your general mood. If you’re feeling like I was yesterday, however, here’s a mixtape of songs to make you feel better, culled from artists and albums featured in this week’s What We’re Listening To. As usual, I went ahead and added an extra. I realized that yesterday I was kind of going on and on about Matt Pond PA’s new, poppier sound, but didn’t really bother to talk much about why I liked their stuff in the first place. Well, here’s me rectifying that with a song off the album The Nature of Maps, called “The Party.” It’s kind of false advertising, because it doesn’t really make you want to party, but it’s so pretty! Please enjoy! The track-list is below the fold. (Oh, and just to warn you, a few of the songs this week might not be safe for work. If you have prudish colleagues, you might want to break out the headphones…)

Loleatta Holloway: “Love Sensation” (Philip)
Matt Pond PA: “Magic Boyfriend” (Rocky)
Republica: “Drop Dead Gorgeous” (Allison)
Ssion: “Bullshit” (Stephanie)
Ice Cube: “It Takes a Nation” (Ben)
Of Montreal: “Heimdalsgate Like a Promethean Curse” (Michael)
Adam Green: “Morning After Midnight” (Zack)
Benjy Ferree: “The Desert” (Coach)
Brandi Carlile: “The Story” (Ms. Cavanaugh)
Matt Pond PA: “The Party” (Rocky)

    Ms. Cavanaugh,
Thanks for putting Brandi’s song on the mixtape. She’s fantastic!
