The Athens Boys Choir aka Harvey Katz will be performing at Phase 1 tonight. We’ve talked about him before on TNG, but here’s a refresher:
- Katz, who calls himself a “Jewish, transsexual man living in the Deep South,” has been touring as the Athens Boys Choir since 2003. Using spoken word and hip hop, Katz combines education and activism with sarcasm and dance-inducing beats. A fifth Athens Boys Choir CD will be released next month.
The show tonight should be a lot of fun. Visit the Athens Boys Choir MySpace page to listen to songs, such as “fagette,” and learn more about the man behind the choir.

Also on the bill were Nicole Reynolds and Thomasina and the Jam (which is Mara Levi, Nancy Eddy, and Kaeri- whose last name i don’t know, sorry!)
Anywho, Thomasina is on tour but is a local band and they rocked. Check em out.
Nicole R was preciouso as usual, and Katz was hilarious… maybe a little tipsy? ;)
