Politics: Tonight: House Party to Support Basic Rights Montgomery

Local electronica superstar Bev Stanton, aka Arthur Loves Plastic, is spinning tonight to support Montgomery County’s recently passed transgender anti-discrimination law. Apparently, there are those who are unhappy with the county’s new protections, and those people would be the gay-hatin’ Citizens for a Responsible Curriculum (whose name alone says bad news). They’ve got an inititiative on the ballot to rescind the law, passed unanimously last November. As the host’s evite says, “This is the first time anyone has been faced with a vote on transgender protections. The costs of losing are too high and has national implications.”

Details:

Location: The Fabulous Home of Robert Raben (near Union Station)

Come enjoy music, fun, and a great cause! Basic Rights Montgomery is a broad-based coalition of community leaders and organizations formed in response to the efforts to repeal Montgomery County’s recently passed transgender anti-discrimination law.
