Hercules and Love Affair, the stage name of gay New York DJ Andy Butler, will be opening up for Gnarls Barkley at the 9:30 Club on August 5th. I’m not so crazy about Gnarls, but I think Hercules will rock for a couple reasons. The first is that they have good songs. I’ve been rocking out to Blind, and its Antony Hegarty vocals, for a couple months straight now. “You Belong” isn’t so bad either. But the real draw is that HALF will be offering a full touring show. None of this two guys and a laptop bullshit- Herc’s publicist says that they’ll have live vocalists (though not Antony) horns players, drums, keyboards, and even go-go dancers. Not bad, eh? The only problem is that their more famous lead act might make the tickets sell out quickly, so you should buy yours soon to avoid disappointment.
