Music: New Girl Talk Album…Maybe

Word has been flying around for quite some time now that the new Girl Talk album, Feed the Animals, would be dropping at any moment. Several days ago, a new “song” – I – showed up on Girl Talk’s MySpace page, yet to the unknowing ear it is nothing but cryptic noises with a drawn out “Girrrrrlllll Tallllkk” looping over it. (According to different blogs you either need to flip the song, speed up the song, or do both and then you get something worth listening to…? I found a version of the latter, and it’s still not really a song.)

Anyway, in an interview with Pitchfork earlier this week (which now is annoyingly not showing up on the site), Gregg Gillis – the real name of the music manipulating artist – said that the music would be hitting the Illegal Art website either Wednesday or Thursday. Well, Wednesday has past, and to the disappointment of many fans, so has midnight on Thursday, and still no word. Thus, fans of Girl Talk can only hope that Gregg didn’t get the tracks back and decide to hold them up for a few more days while he tweaks some beats, and that the tracks will, in fact, be released today. From what I’ve heard, the album will be sold Radiohead / name-your-own price style. Keep checking www.illegalart.net to see when it’s up for grabs.
