Television: A Dream Come True for "Newsradio" Fans
The secret of management. Complaint box. Rocket fuel malt liquor. Does this mean anything to you? Then congratulations. You one of the few, the proud, the long-suffering: You watch Newsradio. My all-abiding love for the fictional WNYX and its eccentric crew has garnered me nothing but abuse in my 10+ years of fandom. I’ve found exactly three people, ever, that share my love. Their shotglass of validation does little to overwhelm the pony keg of derision heaped upon those who’ve proudly read “Jimmy James: Macho Business Donkey Wrestler.”
But there’s hope: The Onion AV Club just ran the first in a regular series of Newsradio recaps. Someone out there loves them as much as we do, and has decided to throw a Monday morning bone to his Bobba Fett-loving brethren. They’ve started with the pilot and plan to run through the whole series. This is totally gaziza.
And I doubt I’ll convert any non-believers here, as this show can be polarizing, but Newsradio featured two prominent gay comedians in its main ensemble: Andy Dick played office spaz Matthew before his sense of humor went down the toilet, but many people don’t know that Dave Foley is “family” too.
Addendum: A simple google search, prompted by TNG Michael, has just informed me that Dave Foley, is in fact, straight. I’m sorry for my oversight. Blame his constant cross-dressing on Kids in the Hall for the confusion.

I don’t know what gaziza is, but I loved NewsRadio. It was one of the few things Andy Dick ever touched that didn’t totally annoy me. And I loved Khandi Alexander too, before she went to CSI: Miami and was infected with David Caruso’s dreadful over-acting disease.
Oh man, I had the biggest crush on Maura Tierney (which, of course, I didn’t realize/acknowledge at the time). Sigh…
It’s nice to see this show get some love finally. I actually had a crush on Phil Hartman was I was growing up…I even sort of “met him” once at a restaurant in Burbank when I was visiting LA family. Really nice and funny guy. It was really crushing what happened to him.
Anyway…I love that hulu site, I had no idea they had nr stuff! Great!! And where’s your source on the Foley thing? I didn’t think he was gay in the Scott Thompson sense of the word but remember reading that he was bi…hmmm

This show was amazing! I can’t think of an ep I didn’t enjoy.
