Local: Thursday: "Skip to the End" @ the AFI Silver

Event Details: Thursday: "Skip to the End" @ the AFI Silver - :

Props to local gay filmmakers! The team of Shea “Summer Camp” Van Horn, Josh “Right Now” Siegel and Chris “Crack” Farris just won a place in the top eight of D.C.’s 48 Hour Film Project. Garnering an “audience’s choice” award, and qualifying for the next level of judging, the film will also be shown on Thursday, May 29, at the AFI Silver Theater in Silver Spring.

Their entry, “Skip to the End, (above) was written, shot and edited in 48 hours. The drew their genre, “road movie,” out of a hat and had only three other guidelines to work with: The inclusion of a character named Laurie or Larry Gardner, who was a designer, the use of sauce as a prop and the line “I’ll be glad when he’s gone.” As you can see, these were combined to great effect.

Way to go, gentlemen. Well done.

Kudos, guys! I can’t wait to see the film on the big screen! I’m so glad that a gay film was an audience favorite.

If you go, please lend an ear during that night’s showing of “Invisible Werewolf,” a (sadly straight-themed) film whose flamingly gay soundtrack composer (me) hopes you will enjoy the music!
