Music: Ben’s Mixtape
The dreary weather inspired me to create a mixtape to get me (and you) through the rest of the week. It’s a nice mix of old and new tunes. I hope you enjoy it.
New: The new Fleet Foxes track is gorgeous with its imagery of children at play, the new tracks from the forthcoming albums of Shearwater and Elbow are excellent, The Ting Tings are an interesting new band, and The Kills get me the most excited–looking forward to their show at the Black Cat. Blue Scholar ends the tape with a call to bring the troops home.
Old: I’m always in the mood for Ike & Tina Turner, I just discovered Surreal and the Sound Providers (released an album last year) and I’m hooked, the Immortal Technique tune is from 05′ but speaks powerfully to our current moment.
