Music: Holy Shit, New Porn Covers ELO!!!!
This is awesome! Anyone who knows me personally should be well aware of my all-encompassing Electronic Light Orchestra obsession. The Essential ELO is one of my all-time favorite CDs, I think Calling America is the perfect driving song and I’ve been talked out of getting a “Strange Magic” tattoo more than once (I wish I was joking.) And if you read this site regularly, you should have a pretty good idea that The New Pornographers are pretty cool too, so this video made me really happy. If any of you heeded my advice and bought your tickets before they sold out, you should keep your fingers crossed that they’ll play this one live.

Where’s Neko? Where’s Dan?
I hope they are in tow when the band comes back soon, so they don’t tarnish my memory of the last awesome New Pornographers show that included all the major players.
Damn, I wish I’d caught them last October. Neko and Dan are said to show up for gigs only when they don’t conflict with their own touring schedules. No differently than Feist and Emily Haines (of Metric) and their relationship with Broken Social Scence.
Wow, that is a respectable cover of “Don’t Bring Me Down.”
The Xanadu motion picture soundtrack is consistently underrated as some quality Jeff Lynne work, especially “Don’t Walk Away,” and “I’m Alive.”
I’d love to see the New Pornos cover the ELO tracks from the Xanadu soundtrack… THAT would be a hoot. And titillating (since I’m secretly a fan of the movie)
I really can not condone this because the voices are not as smooth as they need to be, the vocals are struggeling a bit
but I can give alot of credit for even trying it and alot of credit for ELO appreciation.
That Guitar solo was a big NO NO
in my books, thats the only real penalty I can dish out about it.
ELO is not something you want to screw up, if you do it can mean the end of you.
but in this case I’ll give a little compassion.
I’m praying that they don’t attempt to do another ELO number
that could introduce more screw ups.
They’re damn lucky I’m letting them get away with this one hahaha
