God Hates The World

I found this on The Onion AV Club this morning and it actually made my skin crawl. Its from the Fred Phelps’ ultra-homophobic Westboro Baptist Church (homepage: godhatesfags.com) the organization best known for picketing soldier’s funerals. As laughable and poorly executed as it is, it never hurts to remember that a good portion of our country actually thinks like this. Its a reminder of why I live in D.C., and also that we have a lot of work to do.

i think this just proves that choirs are terrible without us. i mean, come on… the sections are broken into male and female only, might as well be in unison, and the weird solos sound like strained shrieks rather than singing.

also, if “god hates the world” and “it’s too late to change his mind”–really inspired lyrics, btw–that’s really not an impetus for me to consider repenting.

i once spent hours watching youtube videos on the phelps. its really interesting, especially when you watch the children. its crazy that they have so much hatred. i remember reading somewhere that some people think the phelps family actually help gay people out. they make homophobes look so bad that no one wants to be associated with them. i mean everyone hates the phelps family. i think theres even an organization called “fags for phelps.” i tried finding a website but no dice.

i saw these guys on 20/20 or dateline or something one time and they interviewed the kids and someone(john stossel and his moustache i think) asked them what a fag was ans they said “a fag is…like…a jew”!!! i nearly spit out my gingerale and fell of the couch laughing.
