Uncategorized: Feel-So-Good Friday

You are late for work, hungover from from too many Jack & Coke’s at Solly’s, your starfish is sore, your boss took the day off to go to church/watch basketball, and all you can think is “What should I do tonight?” I mean, it is Good Friday.

I can think of no better way to celebrate this high holy day then by heading up the red line to Comet Ping Pong in Tenleytown tonight to check out the Obits, featuring Rick Froberg of the Hot Snakes and Drive Like Jehu (shown in photo above). In listening to their two posted tracks on My Space, it sounds like they are picking up where the Hot Snakes left off: straight-forward, dry, post-hardcore with an urgent rhythm and Froberg’s distinctive, searing vocals. Will there be as many homos as there were last night at Solly’s? Probably not. You can up that quotient. Orphan (ex-Edsel) and the Points (from DC!) will be opening. The show starts at 10 and the cover is 10.

I’ll be there, say hi.

I saw a guy at our party with a “Bottoms for Obama” shirt. What is the significance of the starfish?

Glad to educate! Starfish as a sexual term has two distinct meanings:

    oh, ok. Exceptionally useful term.

I think this concept needs significant editorializing. I don’t understand why starfish still exist in such large numbers. I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but if there was ever a species ripe for extinction, this is it. Do we need an awareness campaign? I would assume most starfish would be aware of this most unfavored state of sexual congress and adjust their behavior, yet they still thrive and multiply. Maybe someone will read this and send TNG a post on the matter.
