Commentary: Friends and Lovers
I found this news article touching. The journalist described their relationship as a “friendship”, but I know love when I see it. Only love will lead you to do something that sick…and beautiful. I suppose I’m sensitive when I read things like this because in my own life I’m all too acustomed to co-workers, friends, and family referring to my lover as my “friend.” In a very real way, it diminishes what my boyfriend and I feel for each other and what we have been through together as a couple.
Granted, we’re talking about a dog and a cat, but if I’m going to stand on principle, I’ve got to recognize that Oscar and Arthur….they had something special.
