My earlier post about GridSkipper’s DC’s Hottest Waitstaff article prompted another contributer of theirs to grow jealous:

Well, darling, we can’t be everywhere at once. Maybe next time you can just email us directly instead of leaving a snarky comment. But yes, it appears that WoahBecca put together an interesting and Handy Guide to DC Fag-Hagging. And she’s not the only one: Another gridskipper (this one a guy) also posted a similar guide: A Fag Hag’s Guide to the District. It turns out these guides are quite different…

The Handy Guide is more of a resource guide for potential hags cruising for fags. I honestly never thought that any woman would go out and actively look for a gay boyfriend, but this Becca seems to know a lot about it and all the right venues. Perhaps such women do exist!?! I have to give her a lot of credit for knowing what she wants and going after it. Heck, she even stalked Rufus Wainwright!

The Fag Hag’s Guide is more of a “gosh, boys, you pick the suckiest venues why can’t we go somewhere fun for once?” type of resource list, for the hag who is sick of the same-old same-old faggery. And who isn’t, really? But I’ll be the first to say that the options dreamed up for this guide don’t really resonate with me. Click above and judge for yourself.

I have to admit, I don’t know much about fag-haggery. The only fag hag I’ve ever had was a girl I nearly dated back when I was still in the closet. I like women just fine, and have some good friends who are women. But I’d never dream of dragging a woman out to a gay bar with me. Heck, I rarely enjoy such venues. On the other hand, maybe I just haven’t met the right woman? Maybe she’s out there waiting for me. Maybe she’s out at Fox and Hounds right now, queuing up Blonde Redhead on the jukebox and sipping a Jack and soda, wondering, “Where my boys at?”

What are you thinking? What are good venues in DC to bring mixed crowds to? Boys, how would you react if some straight chick walked up to at a bar and decided you were going to be her new best friend? Girls, do any of you have straight (or gay) admirers who don’t want to sleep with you?
